One of Australia’s first certified organic farmers
Super Natural Organics
Pete Doff, who owns and runs Super Natural Organics along with Wendy Robertson, is truly one of Australia’s first certified organic farmers. With 27 years of experience farming certified organic goods, Pete takes pride in seeing his customers grow up on his produce. “We feel proud that we have contributed to their health and wellbeing,” the owners claim, as they talk about their love for the market’s village atmosphere. Wendy was also raised on a sheep and cattle farm in New Zealand, and as a third generation farmer, she brings a vast amount of experience to the company as well.
Pete and Wendy plant their produce on contour in order to keep erosion under control and improve water retention. Even the mulch that controls weed growth is certified organic sugar cane, and Super Natural Organics consistently watches and tests soil health, among other important factors, to make sure their organic produce is the best quality possible. The company understands that organic means much more than just chemical free, and they pride themselves on producing only certified organic produce while caring for the earth they farm.
Super Natural Organics is known for its Australian Giant Garlic and Small Purple Garlic, both of which can be ordered via mail for those unable to attend the Farmers Market. Garlic is available from the farm year round, but current hot items freshly harvested this season include ginger, turmeric, rocket, lettuce and limes. The farm is currently even experimenting with a “new” kind of garlic called black garlic, which they hope to have available soon.
Their tranquil organic farm is located in the foothills of the Cootharaba Range, but you can stop in for fresh certified organic produce at the Noosa Farmers’ Market this Sunday.
